Introduction
Osprey Village is growing. With about 630 jobs already, it is forecasted to be homes for more than 1,000 new residents and 200 additional jobs in the next 5 years. However, the Land Use By-law for the area has never been reviewed since its adoption in 2006. To foster economic development and affordable housing in our the Municipality, Municipal Council wants to conduct a plan review of Osprey Village, in conjunction with the MODL2040 project.

Current status: Provincial Review

Hi Sandra, we encourage you to reach out to Nova Scotia's Minister of Housing: https://housing.novascotia.ca/ministers-bio

  • Share With so much residential development in Pine Grove, what are the chances we can get some sidewalks and bike lanes on Pine Grove Rd. So that it is safe to walk or bike along it? I would live for my kids to be able to bike or walk up the road to the playground, but with traffic speeding along (sometimes over the posted 80km/hr limit) I don’t feel safe doing so. And when I go for a run or out to walk the dog, I am always worried. A sidewalk along one side of Pine Grove Rd. Or at least a multi-purpose bike lane, would connect all the smaller residential roads making it feel more like a community and providing a safe way to be an active walking community. on Facebook Share With so much residential development in Pine Grove, what are the chances we can get some sidewalks and bike lanes on Pine Grove Rd. Thank you Caitlin for your question and concerns around the pedestrian and cyclist safety. With the large number of potential residents joining our community in the near future, our Municipality would like to make sure the residents have a safe travelling experience in their day-to-day lives. I will forward your comment to Municipal Council regarding additional sidewalks and bike lanes on Pine Grove Road.

At the moment, municipal staff is looking at multi-purpose trails in Pine Grove to LaHave River through Osprey Village. Staff is also in conversation with traffic engineers at Nova Scotia Public Works to come up with solutions to improving active transportation in Cookville and Pine Grove areas. Our municipality proposed some recommendations to the Province, such as reducing the speed from 70-80 km/h, as well as installing crosswalks, traffic lights, or 4-way stops on Highway 10 and Pine Grove Road in Osprey Village.
